Departmental Research Support (DRS/SAP) Phase-I:
The Department has been sanctioned Departmental Research Support (DRS/SAP) Phase-I Project by University Grants Commission, New Delhi, for carrying out research on the thrust area on "Socio-Economic Conditions in Andhra Desa, 17th & 18th Centuries, A.D." for a period of five years and extended for a further period of one year i.e., 01.09.1994 to 31.08.2000 (Rs. 16,00,000/-).
Departmental Research Support (DRS/SAP) Phase-II:
The Department has been sanctioned Departmental Research Support (DRS/SAP) Phase-II project by University Grants Commission, New Delhi, for carrying out research on the thrust area on "Socio-Economic Conditions in Andhra Desa from 17th Century to the first quarter of 20th Century", for a period of five years i.e., 01.04.2001 to 31.03.2006 (Rs.19,20,000/- + Project Fellows Rs.3,600/- p.m. (Two)).
Departmental Special Assistance (DSA/SAP) Phase-I:
The Department has been sanctioned Departmental Special Assistance (DSA/SAP) Phase-I programme by University Grants Commission, New Delhi, for carrying out research on the thrust area on "Socio-Economic Transformation in Telangana: Regional Change in Historical Perspective", for a period of five years i.e. 1-4-2007 to 31-3-2012 (Rs. 37,00,000/- + (Actual) Project Fellow (One)).
Departmental Special Assistance (DSA/SAP) Phase-II:
The Department has been sanctioned Departmental Special Assistance (DSA/SAP) Phase-II programme by University Grants Commission, New Delhi, for carrying out research on the thrust area on "Regions, Culture and Histories in Pre-Colonial Deccan", for a period of five years i.e., (01-04-2015 to 31-03-2020) (Rs. 53,00,000/-)
The Department has organized the Indian History Congress, A.P. History Congress and South Indian History Congress between 1977 to 1986 and a National Seminar on "Communities, Castes and Cultures in the Deccan", held under DSA/SAP Phase-II Programme on 29-30, October 2014. Recently a Two-Day National Seminar on "Revisiting the People's History: Architect of the Telangana Armed Struggle - Devulapally Venkateshwara Rao" was sponsored by Devulapally Venkateshwara Rao Research Centre, Hyderabad and Organised by Department of History, Osmania University on 19-20, June 2017.
The Department of History, Osmania University, having its own Seminar Library consisting of more than 5,200 books. The Seminar Library also acquired primary sources like Persian Farmans of Qutub Shahi and Asaf Jahi period. The Digitalized hard bound copies of Golkonda Patrika acquired from ICSSR Library (SRC), O.U. under DSA/SAP Phase-I making expenditure of more than one lakh are also available in the Seminar Library. Research Scholars are benefited with the above sources.
